Bit 20 – Season 13/14 brochure and new website!

This season, we’ll present the norwegian premiere of Romitelli’s seminal “Index of Metals” at Borealis Festival 2014, Martin Matalon’s scoring of Fritz Lang’s “Metropolis” movie, conducted by the composer himself plus many other world premieres and norwegian premieres. Also, many contemporary classics who come to Bergen for the first time, such as Birtwistle’s “Secret Theatre“, Stockhausen’s “Kontakte” and Boulez´”Éxplosante.. .fixe” in collaboration with the Grieg Academy in Bergen.

But, we are also starting two new strands of events: The “Listening Room” – which is a series of lectures introducing contemporary music based around our concerts. The lecturers are people working with sound, such as sound artist and researcher Brandon LaBelle or composers Alwynne Pritchard and Torstein Aagaard Nilsen.

In “Bit Lounge” we’ll present a new format of post-concert performances, presenting mostly local artists and performers. They will take place at our performance venues Bergen Kjøtt and Logen and feature composer Djuro Zivkovic, percussionist Peter Kates or electronica artist Gisle Martens Meyer.
