This Saturday, Bit 20 will start the new concert series @ Bergen Kjøtt, an former and derelict meat factory around the corner from Bergen’s castle. This is a newly refurbished space, with artists studios, a multi purpose hall and a cafe downstairs. As you can see in the picture, things are quite still rough, no central heating, no chairs. But lots of atmosphere and great music.
The program is all based on Ligeti. Young icelandic composers Anna Thorvaldsdottir’s “Hrim” was written as a companion piece to Ligeti’s Chamber Concerto. Unsuk (Chin) was his former student. And Nancarrow’s crazy mechanical Fantasies was one of his strongest influences in his later work.
Here is the full program
Anna Thorvaldsdottir – Hrim
Unsuk Chin – Fantasie mécanique
Conlon Nancarrow – Study No 6
György Ligeti – Chamber Concerto
